Kefir
Keifer, which in Turkish means “feel good”, thanks to its colonies of live bacteria, is a PROBIOTIC.
According to the World Health Organization, probiotics are “live microorganisms that, if consumed in the right quantities, provide health benefits”.
It has been discovered that our intestine acts as a command center for the immune system and that probiotic bacteria are able to coordinate and modulate immune cells, strengthening our defense mechanisms against viruses, pathogenic bacteria, allergies and even against cancer.
The microbiota, i.e. the set of microorganisms that live in our intestinal tract, is formed from the moment of birth.
More than 500 different species of microorganisms live in our intestines, their number is impressive, even exceeding that of the cells in our body.
Today science tells us that this enormous number of bacterial cells plays a very important role in our health, it helps the digestion and assimilation of nutrients, synthesizes vitamins, antibiotics and defends us from pathogenic microorganisms, regulates cholesterol and triglycerides in the blood , protects the intestinal walls, reduces inflammation, has an anti-tumor action and has a close correlation with the functioning of our immune system.
There are numerous causes that can alter our intestinal flora including infections, poor nutrition, drugs, antibiotics. In these cases, pathogenic bacteria can take over, generating dysbiosis
Dysbiosis causes intestinal disorders, bloating, colitis, diarrhea, constipation. The reason for these disorders lies in the fact that by increasing putrefactive bacteria such as clostridia, which are normally kept at bay by “good” bacteria, this results in increased intestinal permeability, inflammation, intolerances, metabolic dysfunctions and increased risk of cancer.
Probiotics are therefore a great help for our health!!!
